The luscious surfaces of Alan Ebnother’s green paintings—he always paints in shades of green---dance before you in waves of creamy motion. In the last couple of years or so, Ebnother opened up his surfaces for the first time revealing ever so slightly the rich and bold underpainting that drives his palette. What results leaves us breathless as we investigate the subtle variations of hue as the underpainting gently pierces the undulating swirls that comprise Ebnother’s surfaces.
