FOTOFest exhibition to feature Nina Zurier and Jennah Ward

Abstract photographers on view at Wade Wilson Art

In March at Wade Wilson Art, FOTOFest 2008 will open featuring concrete photographers Jennah Ward and Nina Zurier. The opening reception for the artists will be March 7, from 6 - 8 p.m. and the show will continue through April 5. Photographers Ward and Zurier both portray in their photographs aspects of abstraction which engage elements of light - each, of course, in her own way.  Zurier states, “I am focusing on color. By limiting the range of colors in a photograph - almost like a monochrome painting - the perception of the color is more intense.” The artist approaches abstraction in her imagery with a specific technique - she “misuses” the autofocus on her camera instead opting for less-defined, more blurry images that allow the color itself to become subject and dominate the frame. Ward captures light rays in the dark room which she manipulates to achieve the ethereal forms that dominate her images that cast us into an illusory realm; one in which the artist captures the exact moment where her light rays bend and intersect.
